| Is the city taking taxpayers for a ride?
Well, my soultion is take their free rides away and if they don't come in after hours when needed just fire them like I would of been fired. If our council and mayor had any backbone this is the action they would take. Maybe Judy can get this done as she seems to be the only one that really what to question this massive waste of free rides. O" when yoiu see a free city car or truck driving around take a look to make sure someone is not laying down in the back seat for an extra free ride on the taxpayers. I would also like to thank the Panagraph for their hard work in reporting this waste and being honest with us about city hall and trying to protect our tax money. " .
When George stood up to Vlad over 'fantasy football' meddling I knew ...
He gathered the team and gave a speech, saying simply, 'Look guys, let's go and have some fun and get smiles back on our faces. You're all great footballers, just go and enjoy it and get moving in the league to challenge Celtic and Rangers'. I bumped into Jamie McAllister a few weeks after that. "I think the season before that he'd come in for criticism from the fans and wasn't really performing. Burley played him during the rebuilding phase and I asked Jamie what the difference was. He said two words: 'George Burley.' He said George had made him believe in himself again."Burley just has this uncanny ability to make people feel they are better than perhaps even they believe they are. Kevin Keegan is similar and I don't think it's something you can learn, you just have it."Look at George's work with Roman Bednar.
Housing crisis begins to hit suburbs
In April 2007, Connecticut had the third-highest foreclosure rate in the nation and it remained in the top 10 in May and June before falling off the top of the list in July. The difference between Tuesday's RealtyTrac report and those from 2007 is where the foreclosures took place. In 2007, the foreclosures were happening in Bridgeport, New Haven and Hartford. Now, those white-and-black auction signs are popping up more frequently in suburbs like Fairfield and Milford as well as Stamford. Just two months ago, RealtyTrac data showed that 657 families living in 14 Connecticut municipalities were in preforeclosure, which means they were delinquent and a foreclosure filing was imminent. Those 14 cities and towns represented a cross-section of Fairfield County and other cities and towns in the Bridgeport area.
Artists break a sweat riding pedal-car art exhibit; fun stops when ...
The video shows four art enthusiasts pedalling a hollowed-out car down Queen St. W., their pumping feet visible like Fred Flintstone's. "Our little legs were going, we were breaking a sweat," art gallery director Elaine Gaito said yesterday. They were riding an art exhibit titled "Shared Propulsion Car," a hollowed-out 1986 Buick Regal fitted with four pedal-and-gear mechanisms but missing the engine, transmission, electrical system and suspension. Instead of headlights, votive candles burned behind the glass. Gaito's Mercer Union Centre for Contemporary Art, at 37 Lisgar St., put the car on display with an opening-night bash Oct. 24. The next day, four friends of the work's creator, Montreal artist Michel de Broin, took it for a spin, topping speeds of 15 kilometres an hour.
