| Young entrepeneur vies for £20,000 prize
A TRAINEE architect who hopes to develop a new bicycle security product has been named one of Britain's top 10 student entrepreneurs. Anthony Lau, of Lakeside, Beckenham, is in the running for the £20,000 first prize in the new HSBC Unipreneurs Awards. His invention, Cyclehoop, has already out-performed entries from hundreds of young business hopefuls. The device allows cyclists to lock their bikes on signposts. The 26-year-old trainee architect, who is doing a part-time architecture course at the University of Westminster, said he hoped his invention would encourage more people to cycle. He said: “It's essentially a steel hoop that clamps onto signposts and turns the post into a bicycle rack. People use street furniture to lock their bikes anyway, but the problem is they can fall over and cause an obstruction, and people can steal them by lifting them over the signpost.
Hip-Hop Rumors: Joel Ortiz Off Aftermath? Is Bow Wow Crazy? Amy ...
Wow Bow doesn't have to do this. He doesn't. He can still make his name Bow Wow again. The rumor is that he got pissed off at Chris Brown and spit on his R&B counterpart. That's word to Omarion! Anyway apparently at a show in Dallas, Wow Bow ended his set off and accused Brown of messing up his set. How? I'm not sure how. Chris Brown is the headliner of the show, but I don't know what he did. Anyway, Wow Bow had to be restrained and out came the spit. I know this is only a rumor, but I have to ask: IS WOW BOW CRAZY? Now that I got a good laugh out of that, you should know that Wow Bow has stated on the record that this never happened. Chris Brown hasn't issued any denial. OBAMA HAS A SHOT! OK, I know one doesn't have anything to do with the other, but I thought I would say this anyway.
Oconee County police blotter
Damage: On Feb. 15, deputy William Elrod was dispatched after 6 p.m. to meet with the owner of some forested land off Rockingwood Drive. The man showed Elrod where someone had destroyed a deer curtain valued at $400. Elrod thought the damage was done by either a sword or machete and he could see a path cut to the site in the woods, apparently with the same blade. Elrod followed the hacked path to the back of a home on Spartan Lane. He went to the front door, which was open. Elrod announced his presence, but no one answered the door, so he entered to see if anyone was inside. In a bedroom, he saw a large sword with bits of tree sap still on the blade. Elrod secured the home, then returned to the crime scene to speak to the property owner. After returning to the scene of the crime, the deputy could see headlights pulling up to the house on Spartan Lane, so Elrod returned and introduced himself to the man and his teenage son.
Investigator combs files, book for clues
Mel Wiley was the chief of police in Hinckley Township outside of Cleveland until he vanished without a trace in July 1985. Hinckley's 1980 Toyota station wagon was found at Cleveland's Lakefront State Park on Lake Erie. Locked inside were Hinckley's wallet, police identification and his badge. He hasn't been seen since. He had told his girlfriend the day before he was going to buy a swim suit and go swimming. He never bought a suit, police said, and his friends told investigators he didn't like to swim. Wiley, 47, was an aspiring poet and, when he disappeared, his manuscript for a novel he was writing also vanished, according to published accounts. His literary bent prompted an investigator to check the ribbon in Wiley's typewriter. "Where I've gone," he typed, "is of no critical importance, and it's very doubtful that I'll ever return .
On Your Mind
I usually get some kind of response from the Senator (Jon) Kyl, but it is obviously a form statement. I may not agree with everything the congresswoman has done but I am glad she is working as hard as she is for us. But if you have to hold up a mirror to see your left hand, you won’t agree with anything a so-called "liberal" does. I am outraged to find out that a new building of the big box store size (almost 30,000 square feet, multi-story) is to be built right across the street from my home. I live just off El Camino Real on Calle Gardenia in the Village Meadows area. This is an established residential area with many residents having lived here 30 plus years. We have lived here for 17 years and this is the first we have heard of this plan. The building is for the new Boys & Girls Club.

Michael Rivera Guillen had his head stuck out the window and was moving it back and forth, back and forth, like the pendulum on a grandfather clock. This was the 5-year-old's first time on a train. "I wanted to share the experience with my grandchildren," said Rivera's grandmother, Xinia Durán Meza, who said it was her first time on the train as well. "It's enchanting," she said, "everything is so beautiful." The Tren a la Tica is one of the oldest in Central America, opening to the public in 1903. It ran for the first time as an electric train in 1930 and is the second oldest of its kind in Latin America, according to train officials. At the height of the era, the train institute employed over 3,000 people. The train was shut down in 1995 under President Jose María Figures Olsen but finally reopened in 2001 with the help of a tourist organization called American Travel.

That being said, I believe that the new ultra-low sulfur diesel is the most underused real alternative to gasoline today, as we search for the ideal solution for the future of transportation fuels. The new diesel fuel, when combined with the new 2007 diesel engines, reduces green house gases by almost 20% per mile driven vs. a comparable gasoline engine. Anyone who believes that diesel engines are noisy, smoky and slow has not had the opportunity to drive the recent turbocharged diesels with Bluetech emissions technology. Diesel engines have become perfected in Europe over the past two decades, and in Europe today more than 50% of new vehicles are diesels. Additionally, beyond using less fuel to travel longer distances, the comparatively lower vapor pressure of diesel and bio-diesel fuels reduces emissions during fueling by more than half when compared to gasoline or ethanol.
