Allardyce leaves Magpies: Your Comments

Its a shame that he will have to manage on several million pounds severance pay. Its tough at the top !!!!! On a more serious note, you have to say that Newcastle United are a complete joke. I believe he would have done well given a couple of years. The problems at Newcastle are deep and could not be sorted in a few months. Players with too much power and fans with no patience that only want Shearer. Anyway Sam can now sit back and count his payoff. Sometimes better to be a big fish in a little pond. .

Activist pulls wool over eyes of nation

Global Climate Change", like we are experiencing now, happens every 15,000 years or so. Man certainly has nothing to do with it. It will happen no matter how rich Al Gore gets from selling bogus "carbon credits". We don't cause climate change and we can't "fix" it. Wake up! You are being sold a bill of goods by one of the biggest hucksters in modern history, Al Gore. One of the most obvious examples of this is Iceland and Greenland. When they were originally named, Iceland was covered in ice and Greenland was farmland! Now Iceland is green and Greenland is covered in ice. Did "man" do that? No! And "man" is not melting the glaciers either. It's a NATURALLY OCCURING PHENOMENON. Get used to it and stop making the Environazis rich off your hysteria!! " .

Cars out as London mayor clears way for Paris-style plage and cycle ...

Visitors to London may not find the streets paved with gold but they could certainly find that a lot more streets have been paved, under proposals for the tourist heart of the capital.

Cars will be banned from some of London’s busiest streets as part of a bold plan to create continental-style boulevards devoted to pedestrians and cyclists.

Ken Livingstone, the Mayor of London, plans to replicate Paris Plage, the beach created on a highway alongside the Seine each August, on the four-lane Victoria Embankment beside the Thames.

He is also considering a ban on through traffic on a series of roads connecting London’s parks and main shopping areas, including Portland Place, which runs between Regent’s Park and Oxford Street.

Speaking at Mayor’s Question Time at the London Assembly yesterday, Mr Livingstone said that he wanted to create attractive, tree-lined walkways in the style of Las Ramblas in Barcelona.

Bath man indicted for kidnapping, assault

A 28-year-old Bath man was indicted Wednesday on kidnapping and assault charges for allegedly attacking a 16-year-old girl last August. Darren P. McEathron is accused of dragging the victim into a wooded area off Birdseye Hollow Road in Wayne. The victim, who did not know her attacker, was riding her bicycle in the area. The man is accused of assaulting the girl Aug. 18, causing injuries to her face and extremities, according to state police at Bath. McEathron did not sexually assault the girl, authorities said. The victim was able to escape her attacker when he left her briefly unattended. McEathron, who was arrested in early January, was indicted without the results of a DNA sample he provided to investigators shortly after his arrest. Steuben County District Attorney John Tunney said his office has not yet received those results.
